I'm having problem accessing iPod from Amarok after upgrading KDE to version 4.1. Amarok used to automatically recognize iPod after I mount it, but now nothing happens. After I hit "connect" button in "media devices" section in Amarok, following message pops out:
No new media devices were found. If you feel this is an error, ensure that the DBUS and HAL daemons are running and KDE was built with support for them. You can test this by running "dcop kded mediamanager fullList" in a Konsole window
Unfortunately, I was in a rush, so I couldn't check details and run dcop as Amarok suggested, but syncing iPod worked out of the box in KDE3.
Cheers!

This is not a response to your problem (sorry), but I'm really surprised that iPod syncing in KDE3 worked for you. It's always worked for me in Ubuntu, but no matter what I did in Arch, Amarok never recognized it...

Problem has been kinda solved by manually adding iPod to Amarok (settings->configure amarok->media devices->add device). OK, but that's not fully functional (afaik).
@Jessehk did you try auto detect option in Amarok?
Cheers!

That's funny, I had the exact same problem today after upgrading to KDE4.1. I tried hooking up the iPod this morning and it wouldn't recognize it, but I didn't have time to diagnose the problem as I was running late. I will try to see what I can find out in a little bit, and also try adding the iPod manually though, as you did.

I don't use KDE as my DE, but I use amarok and latest updates from the repos. It recognize my ipod automatically, never changed any settings in amarok, it works out of the box here. Amarok detects my ipod automatically and show the content under "Media Devices" after I have mount my ipod.
Nevertheless I think you have hal and dbus running. If not, start it . Normally it should work out of the box. What happens after you run the command printed by amarok?

@ise After running "dcop kded mediamanager fullList" as user, the output is "call failed" (haven't tried to run it as root). I guess something is wrong w/ kdelibs3 package. Though, I see that it has been rebuilt, so as soon as I get home I will give it a try w/ fresh package. I will post follow up.
Cheers!
