I'm thinking about replacing my Asus EEE with a laptop which is "more capable". I was going to buy Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pa 3515 when I read that Ati radeon HD3200 is now supported in catalyst. Still wanting to know if anyone in the arch community has these new stylish black and white laptops from Fujitsu-Siemens.
Here are the specs for 3515:
* AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology RM-70
* Windows® Vista® Home Premium (Arch is going to replace this, ofcourse)
* 2048 Mt DDR II 667 Mhz
* 250 Gt SATA
* Super Multi Dual Layer DVD-drive
* 15,4" TFT WXGA Brilliant View
* WLAN
* Webcam and mic
So does anyone know how well these devices are supported. Thanks for replies in advance

ATI are generally not that great with drivers if you want to go in the direction of Compiz etc. Except for the KDE4 mishap nvidia deliver better drivers.
I'll get one of these soonish, the 13.3 model though, no release date given so far I'm afraid.
Cerebral: "Welcome to the distro. You'll never leave. Mwahaha"

Yeah I know, but I think that Ati is cathing up and all other Ati-cards I have tried with compiz have worked flawless. I guess I should first install ubuntu and check how it configures everything and how that does work. It takes 20 mins and I clearly see how well everything is working Then it's time to start optimizing everything with Arch.
Oh and by the way, found a review which says that everything should work http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a … inux&num=1

Okay, got my laptop.
First things first; Arch linux ftp-install cd does not boot. Well that should be easy to fix. I'll burn an another cd and try some other options.
EDIT: So it wasn't a bad burn, the live installer (tried two cd's and usb-stick) hangs at:
Checking if this processor honours the WP bit even in supervisor mode...Ok.
SLUB: Genslabs:12, HWalign=64, Order=0-1, MinObjects=4, CPUs=2, Nodes=1
Any idea what to do?
and then I tried linux support in ubuntu. Radeon works fine, so does the sound
The problem rises when I needed the wireless. It does not find any wireless devices and lspci said:
Ralink Unknown Device 0781
I know that there are a lot of Ralink-drivers at their webpage, there are some packages and it seems that there are few packages in aur. Wiki also has guidance on Ralink devices. The problem is, I don't know which card this is. Here are all the drivers http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/S … Linux.html
So any idea how I can find out which card model I have?
Thanks for replies in advance

Any help will be appreciated.
