Does Archlinux customise kernel?

Hello there, Archlinux newbie here and my first post, already asking questions...

Most distros like Ubuntu and Gentoo add their own stuff to the stock vanilla kernel and ship it with their distribution. I am wondering if Archlinux do anything like that?

I want to get some experience with the Linux kernel myself but I haven't have much experience with Archlinux... I basically want to recompile the kernel, but with whatever settings or tweaks that came with the Archlinux CD, and work from there... any advice?

I had looked at the Wiki and I'll need to do this the "traditional way" instead of ABS, at least for now, since I'll need to know how to do this again at school on a Debian machine.

Thanks.

Re: Does Archlinux customise kernel?

Welcome to the forums Sunnz.

Arch tries to keep the kernel as vanilla as possible. So no, there isn't a heavily patched kernel like in Ubuntu.

Re: Does Archlinux customise kernel?

Oh so there are "some" patches?

Where can I get the a list of the patches and apply them... or is there a patched source tar ball that you can just use?

Thanks.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)
