Muffled sound

So I just installed Arch yesterday and its great except for I'm having some problems with the sound. It works and all but the sound is somewhat muffled/bassy and I can't make it very loud (my normal listening volume is only attainable when the alsa and music player levels are all to 100). I have the onboard Intel HD audio and I installed alsa for my drivers. I've tried both exaile and sonata for my music player. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Re: Muffled sound

Maybe one of your level is very low. Use alsamixer to check the levels.
For my laptop for exemple, I have three levels to adjust the output:
Master, Headphone and PCM.

Edit: sorry did not read your post properly, you have ALL your levels at max
