SDL audio problem - there is no audio!
No SDL-using applications I have installed (wesnoth, mupen64plus, and visualboyadvance) work with sound, but everything else works perfectly. And I have no idea why...
edit: I had a feeling I would solve this just after posting the thread... I has misspelled "export SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa" in my /etc/profile - all is fixed now.
