kde4 loads now, but no keyboard

i got kdemod4 loading now. but i can't login. keyboard and mouse don't work

only thing i can do at the login screen is ctrl+alt+f# for some reason, and i was able to check the xorg.conf and there appears to be keyboard and mouse setup right in there. im itching to see what kde4 looks like now, i really am, and im having nothing but problems getting there. i just can type in a user name and password at the login screen.

Re: kde4 loads now, but no keyboard

well, i thought it was a kdemod4 issue, or something on my laptop. so i removed it, and tried just the regular kde4, which had the same problem

adn then i tried going back to kdemod3, and have the same problem there.

i really need help here now. everything was fine on my laptop until this mess.

i have a feeling its something to do with how xorg is picking up my keyboard layout, but that still doesnt explain my touchpad. the laptop is an inspiron 9300, im wondering if maybe theres an updated package of something thats not detecting it properly like it did when i installed arch for the first time on my laptop months ago. maybe whatever update that is worked fine since it reused the previous configuration, but now that im on a clean install?

im no linux guru here, honestly, need help, i dont want to go back to windows
