I can use the 2008.06 installation ISO with no problem on my laptop. However, when I use the same CD on my desktop, I cannot install. Using the default "boot arch live" option, I get a "SQUASHFS error: sb_bread..." error and the system freezes up permanently:
After searching around on Google some, I found that I should add the ide=nodma option and so I tried that. With the ide=nodma option, I get a "Buffer I/O" error on "device sr0" during package installation but it lets me continue. However, when I get to the GRUB installation, the default menu.lst is missing and I am left with simply the "Arch Linux," "Arch Linux Fallback," and "Windows" sections that are supposed to be at the end of the entire menu.lst file.

Does anyone know what's going on here? I am very confused right now... Any help is greatly appreciated; thanks.

Heh; well I burned the same iso using a CD from a new batch of CDRs and k3b on my laptop running arch (instead of imgburn on my desktop using windows) and that worked fine. Thanks for your suggestion though, Grave.
