[SOLVED]What does the "add activity" thing do in kde 4?

i am running kde 4.1 and when i click on the widget button in the top left, i get a list of things I can do, one of which is "zoom out" when i click zoom out, the desktop shrinks but the kicker stays the same size. If i click on the widget icon again, i can "add an activity" and another desktop shows up. My question is, what is the use of this and how can i use it? I am quite curious.

has anyone else played around with this? I am starting to think that this is for having different widget profiles.

its for having multiple layers of widgets... its called ZUI and its not finished, but will be in 4.2 - and infact its a great feature, once ppl understand it smile

at this very moment its not really usable tho...

He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.

If you want basic functionality of the multiple plasmoid layouts if you zoom out and add an activity by clicking on the corner thing you should have two wallpapers side by side. If you then zoom back into one of them and click on the desktop or activate the dashboard you should be able to switch between the two using ctrl+shift+n and ctrl+shift+p. You can have different wallpapers and widget layers on the two.
