I removed the snd-page-alloc from module list in rc.conf and my sound still works well. But what does this module work for?

You might have removed it, but it's probably still loaded as a dependency (for snd-hda-intel, in my case, for example). It is a memory alllocator for ALSA system... I'd say leave it as it is...
