Arch Popularity

Since I am bored i am going to, completely unscientifically, assess the popularity of arch through the amount of users on each respective distribution's irc channel:

#archlinux - 442
#gentoo - 929
#slackware - 277
#ubuntu - 1309
#suse - 305
#fedora - 453

So contrary to distrowatch.com it seems we're not so small as one might think!

Re: Arch Popularity

What's that? You want some statsporn?
http://linuxtracker.org/index.php?page= … 4&active=1
Indicates that the last batch of installer images was downloaded a total of roughly 11000 times via bittorrent. Assuming roughly the same number (I think it's actually slightly more) downloads from FTP and our mirrors, the last set of install images was probably downloaded over 20,000 times between ftp and torrents.

http://dev.archlinux.org/~dan/archgrowth.png shows some stats on our various websites. All points are PER MONTH. The right y-axis is for forum posts only, while the left y-axis is for all other data. So for instance, last month, the forums took on a little over 12,000 posts, and about 600 new users.

Enjoy smile

Are you saying KDE will be the konqueror or windoz will be sunk by the nautilus with assistance from krusader and the midnight commander saving dolphins from the evil empire.

The above comment (mine) is a perfect example of  Mark Twains famous quote about "its better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and prove it".
