DVD-Quality using Xine

Hi,
one little question about Xine.
I`m using Xine on my Arch-System incl. xine-ui and gxine .
I think that the Quality of Movies is not the best. I do not know the right words for it (sorry, I`m German and too long out of school smile ).
O.K., I`m also using Debian SID and on my SID-System the Quality of Movies (with Xine) is much better.
Any ideas how I can optimize my System for a better Movie-Quality?
My Workstation:
GeForce 2 MX 400, Asus Board with P4, 512 MB DDR ...
Own Kernel 2.6.7 with NVIDIA-Driver 5336.
Thanks for answers & greetings

Re: DVD-Quality using Xine

The xine in current is compiled without xv support, so playback quality is bad.  The problem is that xine won't compile with gcc 3.3.4. So we are stuck until the xine team fixes their compile problems.

I'm using mplayer until xine gets fixed.

um .... is this with respect to xv or in general? i compiled both xine and the ui last night without issue. i am also having no issues with playback.

if your issues are with playback then i suggest adjusting the DMA on the suspect drive. i can provide the settings i used to use later when i get home (or if you are impatient they can be found in the faqs page of the ogle website)

Re: DVD-Quality using Xine

Ok I stand corrected.  Looks like new xine packages were put up yesterday.

I pacmaned these in and xine works beautifully again.  I guess they fixed the gcc compile problems.  I'll probably try to makepkg on xine-lib to prove I'm not crazy.

Sarah,  I assume since you did the compile last night it was with the new packages?

Re: DVD-Quality using Xine

well xine-ui requires curl which was updated yesterday so I had to rebuild the ui package but before that i rebuilt the first arch release of the current lib package.

i used what ever builds were in abs last night.
