opengl programs mangle screen ATI proprietary drivers
Hey all,
I have this weird problem, if I were able to articulate it better I would have searched around more.
Everytime I run an opengl program (for example World of Warcraft through Wine, or Compiz-Fusion) my display gets all wierd. It looks like there are 2 of my desktop and both are mangled in some sort of square patteren. I'm using ATI proprietary drivers, and the card is ATI Mobility Radeon X1600. I'm running arch on a macbook pro. I'm gonna try and get a picture of the nonsense it's doing.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I also got that with a X1400. It's a problem of the new proprietary drivers. I think the only solution is to wait for an update (I think it's a known issue, for what I found in the phoronix forums) or revert to an old version of the drivers. I seem to recall 2008.5 didn't have the problem.
By the way, has any one experience with the radeonhd driver? It's already usable or is it still too early in developement?

I agree that it's most likely an issue with fglrx.
radeonhd works great for 2D on my X1400. However, no DRI/OpenGL on the stable version. The current developement version is getting DRI support, but when I tried it a month or so ago I didn't have much success.

I only have this issue with older versions of wine, anything beyond 1 works perfectly. I will also try to revert to 2008.5, thanks
