Hello, i usually use shaman to install packages so the other day i decided to update my system using it, it asked if i wanted to upgrade pacman first, I said yes. When upgrading pacman finished, shaman did not continue the update so i decided to just shut down the pc. The next day I try to use shaman and it wont launch, when i launch it from terminal i get this:
shaman: error while loading shared libraries: libalpm.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
also, when i try to use yaourt I get:
/usr/bin/pacman-color: error while loading shared libraries: libalpm.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
i deceided to try and pacman -Syu but when it started the update I got the following error:
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: linux-uvc-svn: requires kernel26<2.6.26
:: virtualbox-modules: requires kernel26<2.6.26
here is the output of uname -a:
Linux dany-laptop 2.6.25-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 14 15:25:51 UTC 2008 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
is anyone else getting this or is it just me?

Both shaman and pacman-color need to be rebuilt against the new libalpm version, which was part of the pacman upgrade.
linux-uvc-svn and virtualbox-modules need to be rebuilt against the 2.6.26 kernel package.

thanks for your reply but how would i go about doing that?

For shaman you will have to wait for a new release (scheduled for 1st of Sept from memory). It is not a simple rebuild.

Are you using the last version of pacman color :
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=11827
?
pacman roulette : pacman -S $(pacman -Slq | LANG=C sort -R | head -n $((RANDOM % 10)))

nope, i just did thanks, btw why did you give me the aur link?
so i guess the best thing to do is just wait...

It's an AUR package - there's no binary package for pacman-color.

Are you sure, I just installed it through pacman...

from what repo? (pacman -Si pacman-color | grep "Repository")

It could be the archlinuxfr repo, which provides many things besides yaourt :
http://repo.archlinux.fr/i686/pacman-color/
pacman roulette : pacman -S $(pacman -Slq | LANG=C sort -R | head -n $((RANDOM % 10)))

I had the same problem. You simple need to remove pacman-color
pacman -R pacman-colorand reinstall the latest 3.2.0.a-1
yaourt -S pacman-colorThis will fix the errors you are getting with pacman and yaourt, but ,as previously said, you will not be able to use Shaman until it has been brought up to speed

could someone help me with this please?

I'm in the same situation (linux-uvc-svn: requires kernel26<2.6.26 ). Looking at the description it looks like linux-uvc-svn would break because the new kernel will not support it. I wonder when there would be an upgrade of that package, unless of course, there is another way around the problem.

linux-uvc-svn has been removed from community repo. The module is now part of the kernel. Maybe they changed the module name.
