DVD Drive broken after kernel update

After the latest kernel update, my DVD Drive stopped working entirely.  Even /dev/dvd (cdrom/etc.) all disappeared.  Any ideas?

It's an nforce2 motherboard.  Kernel upgraded to 2.6.26.2-1 just before complications.

During boot, I receive an error stating that the link is taking too long to respond and that the SATA link will be limited to 1.5gb.  Not sure at all what that means.  Will be building an older kernel from ABS tonight.  We'll see if that works at all...

Re: DVD Drive broken after kernel update

I have the same problem.  Same type of mobo too.  The kernel change has different modules for sata devices.  When you run dmesg, is it even recognized (any indication of a dvd drive)?  Mine is not.
