i been having trouble figuring out how to make my friend's webcam to work. the trouble is that the cd has been lost so I can't even make it work in Windows XP. So I was trying to pinpoint which camera it is exactly and it seems, by the picture I found on the internet, to be the "Hewlett Packard EW193AA Personal Web Camera". It only says HP on it

i can't find any working drivers for Windows XP for the CIF Simple Chip or something like this. I plugged it into an Ubuntu box before I formatted it [ubuntu] and installed Arch and it worked.

i been trying to figure out which driver to use. It seems to me, by information on the internet, that it uses a driver called pac207, which i don't know what it is or how to get it. I added myself to the hal, video, audio, camera groups.

i really haven't done webcam connections before. i tried it with the cheese program in gnome and it only showed the static and the rainbow colored screen.

So you're trying to find the driver for Arch? Search for gspca. I don't know if the stuff in AUR is helpful, or you just need to load a module.
