root on LVM; Yes or no

I already asked the question in this thread but i think it's bettter to start a new one. I now have three drives. A 640Gb, a 750Gb, and a 1000Gb one. I now have the 1000, 750 and about 500gb one combined as one big LVM volume. I use that for /home.

I now am on the verge of reinstalling(actually, i will reinstall before 27th of august) and i am considering adding root to the lvm also. I know /boot has to be on a normal partition because of grub. I am considering a compactflash2ide solution for that then. But i am wondering, are there mayor disadvantages to putting everything but /boot on lvm?
