You need to be in the 'power' group.
But beware that the Battery widget most of the time doesn't show the correct current capacity. Mine says 83%, but I am pretty sure is +-98%.

Still shows NA.
I tried kde as root and it still showed NA so it's probably not a group issue.

I have the same issue.
But acutally I remember, I had it working with some beta or RC releases...
