I currently have a computer running Ubuntu 8.0.4-1 x64 and it works fine with its wireless network card, a Linksys WMP54G v4.1 (lspci lists it as "RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI"). I would like to install Arch on this box and I was wondering if FTP installs can be performed wirelessly.
Thank you.

By all means it is possible.
What you would need to do is pre-setup the wireless, so it can connect wireless.
I assume you have wpa-psk protection,
so using wpa_supplicant is the easy choice. Luckily I use the same drivers as what your required.
Make sure first a wireless interface exits, so either ifconfig or iwconfig.
If it doesn't exist, then modprobe rt61pci, this should create the wireless interface.
I recommend that you mount your hard drives first, exit and then setup your wireless for the next section, as you can't write to a CD.
wpa_passphrase <ESSID or name of wirless> <wpa_psk> > /media/<hard drive mount>/etc/wpa1.confuse this command to check it connects
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -i<wilress interface> -c/media/<hard drive mount>/etc/wpa1.confthen this one to put it into the background.
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -i<wilress interface> -c/media/<hard drive mount>/etc/wpa1.conf -B32-bit Gentoo -to- Arch64
If you could be so kind, but when you found the solution,
edit your first post and add to the title '[SOLVED]'.
