KDE/Plasma Screenshots

Posting Guidelines

· DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:

$ cp screenie.png thumb-screenie.png
$ mogrify -resize 20% thumb-screenie.png

Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies.  You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

· Several websites also offer free image hosting, of these ImageShack is very popular and does a neat auto thumbnail:

Use the "Thumbnail for forums" link code that is supplied by ImageShack to post your thumbnail link.

I Browsed in august screenshots thread looking for idea's... not alot of kde4 screenshots there... so post you'r kde4 shot's here:

Re: KDE/Plasma Screenshots

Nice stuff. Are you running stuff from svn? I've never seen Kaffeine for KDE4 until now. Which dock are you using? AWN?

Re: KDE/Plasma Screenshots

Could you guys please post screenshots using thumbnails/downsized links? (mangus, i'm pointing at you, actually smile )
It's a real PITA when this thread is loading, and i assume any dialup users have already died of old age by the time they get to read this!

What's that system bar underneath the regular KDE bar? Is that a Plasmoid? What's the name of it?

Thanks a lot,

Re: KDE/Plasma Screenshots

I just want to remind you to use the current screenshot thread : http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=60011 to post new screenshots. No need for more than one screenshot thread. However, feel free to discuss the screenshots that are already posted.

Re: KDE/Plasma Screenshots

I'm wondering: why do we have to be confined to one screenshot thread?  December's thread should be for December screenshots... if we piled them all up there, what about people who want to see KDE4 screenshots, maybe to get idea or inspiration for our own desktops.  Then we'd have to scour through gnome, openbox, e17... everything else.

After seeing that screenshot I have to ask, are you a fencer? Or just a fan of the sport?

Re: KDE/Plasma Screenshots

desktopthumbnailft8.png

Problems with KDEmod 4.2 so far:
1) The screen sometimes turns blank. I could reproduce it every time by going into Apperance Settings and clicking on New Theme...
2) GTK apps have glitches, been this way for a long time. Something with the gtk-qt engine.
3) A lot of the widgets appeared in manager, but were not really there, they had to be installed separately.

e: Neither my hobby or profession is lobbying to get bugs fixed. Often times I submit bug reports, I get told that it is in wrong place or whatever, I won't bother to resubmit it somewhere else. In fact I have discontinued to report them at all, except perhaps in friendly communities, which are generally small. I have zero positive experience with bug trackers, but lots of negative. So I just tell people how stable this so-called stable version of KDE actually is.

Re: KDE/Plasma Screenshots

this would better be told on the kde bugtracker smile
Anyway, i have another one... click the cashew and resize the panel to half the screen. If you size it up and down a bit, half the screen will go black and you cant even click there anymore.

Yeah, I'm up pretty early in the morning.

Plasma - Silicon
Qt - Oxygen (default)
Icons - Oxygen (default)
Wallpaper - It's in one of the artwork packages I think...

Re: KDE/Plasma Screenshots

Hey, any of you got different activities yet? Dead useful if you want to split your desktops into fun (comic widget, etc), system (well, system stuff) and experimental - especially if you have little screen estate like me (1024x768).
