How you have done this minimalistic decorations?
Maybe it's a theme for Aurorae or deKorator?

It's an Aurorae theme, Glassified, but I made a little adjustments disabling the buttons and changing the size of borders. You can check in ~/.kde4/share/apps/aurorae/themes/*

KDE 4.5.1. Been a long long time since i used KDE.
What window decorator are you using?
Also, you might want to know that wicd-client-kde is in the AUR. Might be a bit more integrated in the desktop.

Windec is muuh for dekorator. This is Sorcerer OS by the way. I wasn't aware of the KDE version of the client. Off to write a new spell and merge my grimoires.

Hey guys, are you aware latest 4.5.1 has built-in dockbar functionality!? I discovered that yesterday while adding a new panel to run shortcuts
Since then I was experimenting about the best way to a have very functional, out of the way desktop. Strange enough, I ended up with something very close to what I used to have back when I was starting in GNU/Linux and used Ubuntu with Cairo Dock - no comments!
This is my current desktop with both top panel and dockbar autohiding when I maximize a window but showing up if I move the mouse pointer to the edge of the screen:

Is that still Xbar from Bespin though? Or is KDE going to implement some version which will be rolled out by default with Plasma?

This is XBar from bespin (it is supported by qtcurve also) with globalmenu-mod for gtk support (it's in AUR, if you interested).
Default menu of XBar is changed

@ msx
Sort of makes sense - you take what you know, are used to and are therefore quickest in without having to learn something new
@ SanskritFritz
You heard of this? Once installed add a fancy panel and have it autohide - unless I misunderstood something here that should do it.

That is not built in. And it behaves terrible, not even close to any other paraboloid docks.

Oxygen&Air mashup panel theme (rest of plasma is again mashup of couple of other themes), otherwise nothing special.
