Hello!
I just installed Arch Linux 64bit (kernel 2.6.26) on my new XPS M1530. Everything runs perfectly except that the notebook doesn't shut down properly (most times). On shutdown the following message appears:
general protection fault : 0000 [1] PREEMPT SMP
CPU 0
[...]
Process wpa_supplicant
[...]
I tried to make a picture of it:

Sorry for the bad quality, but it wasn't easy to make a picture of this reflecting display.
Can anybody help me with this problem? If you need more information, please let me know.
I use netcfg2 to configure my wifi connection (WPA2). Sometimes the error doesn't appear and the notebook shuts down properly.

EDIT: I'm using the iwl4965 driver.

I think I had a similar problem with wpa_supplicant on my m1330 so now I just bring down the connection before I shutdown. Just make an alias in your .bashrc for `sudo netcfg -d <profile> && sudo shutdown -h now` and similarly for reboot.

But then I always have to shut down from the console, right? What if I want to use the shutdown/reboot button in KDE4.1?
Thanks for your reply.

Okay, I solved the problem now by adding this to my /etc/rc.local.shutdown:
# Take all wifi profiles down before shutdown
netcfg2 -aLast edited by tobiwae (2008-08-22 18:02:59)
