[solved] Another Issue: Wireless

Well, I read the wiki...
Decided to give KDE-Mod a shot (yuck), and I cannot even get Knetworkmanager to appear.
Ethernet works perfectly, but here is some results I get from my wireless stuff...

iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

wmaster0  no wireless extensions.

wlan0     IEEE 802.11  ESSID:""
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.412 GHz  Access Point: Not-Associated
          Tx-Power=0 dBm
          Retry min limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr=2352 B
          Encryption key:off
          Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
          Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

ifconfig wlan0
wlan0     Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:13:E8:21:59:B9
          BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b)  TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory

I have Googled to no avail about SIOCSIFFLAGS.
I have an Intel 4965 AGN wireless card.

Here's some snippets from rc.conf...

eth0="dhcp"
wlan0="dhcp"

I just added wlan0="dhcp" to see if it would even work. Did not change any of my above results.

DAEMONS=(syslog-ng hal network netfs crond)

MODULES=(b44 mii mac80211 iwl4965 iwlcore cfg80211 snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm-oss snd-hwdep snd-page-alloc snd-pcm snd-timer snd snd-hda-intel soundcore)

No, none of that.
It's just that I can't get a network manager to start, and my wireless won't work.

Intel 4965 AGN wireless card.............SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory

You need to install the firmware for your device. It's in the repos, iwlwifi-4965-ucode

Thanks. Yeah.
I realized this a few hours ago.

I feel really dumb.
I read that wiki page like 4 times and didn't see it.

Re: [solved] Another Issue: Wireless

I have this same card (intel 4965 AGN) and the latest firmware version (iwlwifi-4965-ucode-228.57.2.21-1) but I cannot connect to  my router when WEP is enabled. When I try to start the profile it says "Network association failed". Is anyone having this problem?

I noticed that I will even response to my dhcp request, giving me an IP address and setting the kernel routing table correctly but i can't resolve a name or ping an address outisde the local network. The router does respond to ping and I know it is connected to the internet because I have other computer connected through it. It's a NETGEAR WPN824 router if anyone wants to know
