Does anybody have working desktop effects in KDE 4.1? [SOLVED]

I had them working at one point, then after upgrades last week of nvidia, kernel, they no longer work.

I solved my own problem by reinstalling the WHOLE system. That was the only way I could get it to work again. I tried removing and reinstalling KDE4 and the nvidia drivers, but that didn't work. There must have been something about the way the Arch packages were installed/uninstalled that borked something/
