i have a 2 hard disks, a 120 GB which is a primary one, and a 40GB one which i use for my data, i have archlinux running in a vmware environment and it works completely fine, the problem started when i added my 40GB drive to it, i removed the 40GB drive from windows by removing its drive letter so that it cant be accessed by the host, then i added the pysical drive (entire disk) to vmware archlinux client.
i then used mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdb1 (sdb is the hard disk, sdb1 is the only partition in it) and the drive was formatted with an ext3 filesystem, but i m now getting buffer i/o errors.
Attempt to access beyond end of device
sdb: rw=0 want=78161912, limit=78159151
buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 9769982
there are more of these errors with there logical block number/want number changed, this error is shown every time my archlinux starts, i tried to used fsck on it, but fsck says that there is no error on it. i thought that maybe my data was inaccessible but i can still access it and its not corrupted, so what may be the problem?
