[solved] nvidia + compositing - unwanted transparency

I'm not sure what happened, improper set up by me after driver update?, but when using the window manager tweaks -> compositing in XFCE I get unwanted transparency for every option. I have everything set to opaque but I am getting transparency, it is like the settings are being ignored. If I turn display compositing off it's OK but I like my shadows. big_smile

The info:
Video card: NVIDIA GPU GeForce FX Go5200

$ sudo pacman -Qi nvidia-96xx | grep Version
Version : 96.43.07-5
$ sudo pacman -Qi nvidia-96xx-utils | grep Version

Re: [solved] nvidia + compositing - unwanted transparency

I have tried the nvidia 173.14.12-3 driver which is apparently the correct one for this card. I thought it was a legacy card but their website says to use this one. The problem persists though. I'm getting transparency in the xfdesktop right-click mouse menu, when moving and resizing windows and my biggest annoyance is the transparency in menu drop downs, in mousepad, terminal, etc.

Re: [solved] nvidia + compositing - unwanted transparency

Well it had nothing to do with the nvidia driver. The transparency was set by the xfwm themerc that I was using - it continued after switching themes and disabling/enabling compositing though. Doh! Deleted the lines in the themerc and everything looks good.
