Hi guys,
I got a very stuttering video playback. No matter what kind of videos I try to play (xvid, h264, ...) it's far from smooth. The audio is fine but the video is like it's dropping 80% of its frames. It also doesn't matter what player I use. I think this is a result of the cpu usage going up in the sky when playing video. The one thing I noticed if I switch the video output driver from vx to gl it gets a little better. I have no idea why though. I could play 720p with the vx driver just fine in another distribution. Thanks for your help!
//edit
some info:
- intel gma950 chipset using the xf86-video-intel driver (2.4.1)
- direct rendering works fine

It doesn't matter what player I use. I just tested it with a xvid movie. When I use vlc or totem the cpu load of the Xorg process goes up to 95%. When I use mplayer the mplayer process eats 95% of my cpu. Something is wrong, just don't know what. Anyone got an idea?
//edit:
messed around with it a little more. Turns out I just get those problems in gnome with compiz enabled. In openbox there's no such problem. I read that enabling the video playback plugin could solve it but it didn't.

I switched to the i810 driver and now the video playback is fine. Weird...
