Is it e-cvs or e17-svn??

Hi all,

Just checking the forums today and I noticed a post about e17-svn and upon searching the forums found a posting from 2008-07-03 referring to a wiki about E17 using e17-svn.  I've always used e-cvs and just installed it on one of my computers just the other day and it worked fine.  Now I just thought I'd see what happened installing e17-svn and it's not there and neither was e-cvs.  I switched to another computer and I could now get e-cvs but not e17-svn.  This computer uses a different mirror so I guess that 's part of the confusion.

I'm just wondering what the correct method is to install E17 in Arch now ??

Enlightenment switched to subversion upstream. The upgrade here wasn't real pretty.

Re: Is it e-cvs or e17-svn??

Thanks for the info scotttish smile pressh must be pulling his hair out!

I just did a #pacman -Syu on my x86_64 machine and it asked me if I wanted to replace e-cvs with e-svn and I went ahead.  So far no probs.  If it was a rough changeover maybe it was a good thing I didn't notice the change and upgrade my machines as often as I usually do. tongue

Maybe I'll go back to my laptop now and see what transpires there.

Edit:  Well, so far nothing about e-svn on my i686 laptop; even tried a few different mirrors.  Patience is a virtue, they say. tongue

I just editted my last post and you're right, there's nothing for i686 at the moment but I got it for my x86_64 machine.

Re: Is it e-cvs or e17-svn??

Well, I needed to build exml-svn from AUR... the only package left in AUR, and now I'm trying to get entrance-svn to install properly. Entrance-svn? It's no where to be found, so I'm adapting and old copy of a cvs version I had laying around.

--EDIT--

Success. And before anyone asks, no, you can't have it. My solution is way too ugly to believe. I'm sure pressh is reading this stuff, and who knows, maybe it just didn't sync in time?

I noticed the same problem, in fact I posted about it because I'm new the e17 and was not sure what was going on.
I think the best thing for the next few days is to "sit tight" and wait until things settle ... wink

Or, you run around like an out-of-control freak for a bunch of hours until you have what seems like a working system. On second thought, your idea seems a bit smarter.

wth, I'm sure I've uploaded the i686 version...let me see what I can do from my laptop without my build scripts. Must have been due the the problem we were having with the community repo.

Yeah, I should have remembered you've told me something similar in the past.  Sometimes I just like to whine. big_smile

And you've spoiled us e17 users.  We don't want it now...we want it RIGHT NOW!!  Your effort is appreciated.

Re: Is it e-cvs or e17-svn??

I know I've been having trouble installing anything related to e the past couple of days, on i686. I won't email pressh, as it's not a big issue to me, but I'll be watching this topic, so I can eventually install it.

**It works for me now, although I'm not sure of the name of the extras.

Re: Is it e-cvs or e17-svn??

Everything should be working now (tested upgrade path i686, packages tested on both archs). If you are going to upgrade a previous e17 release (hence cvs) wait for exhibit-svn 35554-2 to hit your mirror as there is typo in the replaces field of the -1 version which will prevend the update.

After the update you can do

pacman -S elitaire-svn

which will also install ewl-svn (these have not been there before). After that you have all e17 packages in community.

[edit]
for new installs, the commands in the wiki page should work (not tested wink)
