when i try to use yakuake it gives me this error in the terminal area even though konsole is installed.
Yakuake was unable to load the Konsole component.
A Konsole installation is required to use Yakuake.edit: im pretty sure that my problem is for some reason the yakuake version that was installed was for kde 4 and i am using kde 3

If you're using the yakuake package in the repositories then it is for kde4. There's another version of yakuake built meant for kde3 in the AUR, though it has one kdemod dependency. You didn't say if you were using kdemod's packages or just old official Arch kde packages. If it is just the old packages you might want to think about switching the kdemod since they'll maintain the kde3 branch for a bit still

If you have not cleared your cache you can use the last working yakuake package.
1. go to /var/cache/pacman/pgk
2. ls -l yakuake* (to find all the instances of yakuake in the directory)
3. choose whichever you think is the best and issue "pacman -U your_version_of_yakuake.pkg"
