En_US Locale

I live in the USA ive noticed that there isnt an american english locale in the repository so I installed the Brittish English locale but it seems to be screwing things up, how can I get the American English locale?

You're looking for the following in the /etc/locale.gen

en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8  
en_US ISO-8859-1

then use

#locale-gen
