[Solved] iwconfig not changing essid name rt2860sta chipset

Hey all,

I've been trying to get the wireless working on my eee pc and I'm having a bit of an issue. When I use

iwconfig ra0 essid somessid

my iwconfig always gives a blank essid name (ie ""). I've read that different iwconfig command orders (like changing the mode to ad-hoc then changing the essid then changing the mode to managed) should make it work but it hasn't thus far.

any ideas?

It was just a matter of executing iwconfig commands in a specific order. The orders I used to get it working can be found http://rt2400.cvs.sourceforge.net/*chec … _usage.txt
