Automount ipod and change mount point -- lxde

Hey running arch64 with lxde. Pcmanfm shows the ipod (or flash drive) when its plugged in, but doesn't mount it until you click on the icon in the file manager window. I'm a member of the hal, storage, camera, and disk groups.

1. Should this be automounting when it's plugged in? If not, how can I get it to automount?

2. I read the wiki article on hal, and I've created the file ipod.fdi in /etc/hal/fdi/policy with the info per the hal wiki to change the mount point to /media/ipod instead of /media/[Name of ipod] for any ipod. This doesn't seem to work, even after restarting hal numerous times. I've read about changing the volume label on the ipod, but I'd rather change the mount point for any ipod since we have several in our family! Am I missing a step someplace?

Thanks!

Scott
