Hotkeys reacting very slowely on Thinkpad

Hello,

I have configured the brightness buttons of my thinkpad following this post:

It works like this:
There is a brighness script wich takes + and - adjusting the brightness.
ACPID catches the hotkeys and adjusts the brighness.

The problem:
Calling the brightness function from the terminal works, the brighness is adjusted instantly.

Pressing the hotkeys also works, but it take about 1 second until the brighness is adjusted.

Any Idea why this could be?
