Risk is probably the most awesome boardgame around. If you want to have a go at world domination with your buddies, get some beers in and prepare yourself for WW111.
If you've got no buddies, don't worry, this game allows you to add computer generated opponents. The best thing is they don't drink all your beer like real mates

Latest release:
Risk 1.0.9.7 - Requires Java
sudo pacman -S jre

I was going to make a PKGBUILD for this, but guess what: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=6136
Thanks for drawing my attention to it though -- I haven't played risk for ages and I love that game!

I am not positive, but I think there is a risk game in the standard set of kde games. Ksirk or something like that?

That would be great to have a ready made package. Risk is a great game, although basic compared to today's standards.

There is a Risk-alike called "teg" in the repos, but it isn't the same. It's similar to Risk (as in board layout + game play) but the java graphics are far superior. I'll have a look for a the Kde game you mentioned, it's always good to know what's avalaible, thanks.

PS: As I am new to the forums, where would I post a question about Risk not being able to create a server to run a networked game? I have done a Google search and a forum search, but no joy.
When I click "Start Server", I get an "unable to create server. arch: arch" error message.
Any help would be apreciated.

Don't know why you get the error, it works for me, I installed from AUR, ran server and client on the same machine and could play. I don't get any output in CLI when starting/stopping the server.

I tried running the game as root, as well as the commandline Risk as user and root, but i still got the same error. The funny thing is that teg had no problem opening localhost as the server.
I don't know, it's not that important, but I like things to work, ya know? I was hoping to setup a couple of networked games.
I'll keep tinkering and Googling

No biggie It's a good game that doesn't get a lot of exposure now we have all these 1st person shooters and the like.
Just to add, I tried the AUR version and still get the server error, so I must have a server problem. I'll keep looking.
