Program to emulate key events

Hello,

Is there some tool/program with which I can emulate key events?
I am looking for something which can be invoked from the console, not a virtual keyboard.
So that I can do something like:
key-emulator "Shift+x"
And the active window gets a keyevent.

It's called "xdotool" and you find it in the AUR.
