Hi folks,
Just a quickie here - I just installed OpenOffice, and now I find out that other than 'soffice', it's not in my path.
So... I can't launch the individual components (writer, calc etc) from the terminal.
Any idea why?
Pete.

If you installed the beta version, it launches with soffice-beta. Otherwise I'd say log out and back in again.

The way I was reading your post is soffice is in your path - but you want to start up from the command line directly into something like calc or impress. This can be done with as options for soffice, not as separate commands.
soffice -impress
soffice -calc
soffice -writer

Ah, thanks, that's it.
Yeah, I guess I was expecting an entry in /etc/profile.d/ to add /opt/openoffice/program to my path (or something similar), but this is fine.
Thanks.

Same thing with openoffice-dev. Had to edit my path to get it working
