(solved) dumb wireshark question

there is a good chance this might be a monumentally stupid question.

Just installed Wireshark from Pacman. for some reason, it doesn't recognize any of my interfaces. is there some way around this?

If you start it as a normal user, it won't be able to put your NIC into PROMISCous mode (i.e. accept/sniff all packets mode).

So you 've to run it as a root user and also go to its preferences in one of its menus and select the NICs that are to be sniffed on (put into PROMISCous mode).
