Creating a distributable binary on 64?

I want to be able to compile a file and be able to run it on other 64-bit machines.

However, when I try to run the binary on a RHEL (64 bit) system, I get an error saying it's missing: /lib/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2

There exists a /lib/ld-linux.so.2 and I have tried to symlink to ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, but that doesn't work.

Is it just not possible? Suggestions?

Thanks
