kdeinit and gconfd

I have used only Openbox and I don't know much about KDE and GNOME. I have installed some apps that require some GNOME and KDE libraries and application, now when I start my computer kded, kdeinit, klauncher, dcopserver, gconfd, start_kdeinit and dbus(maybe it is needed by some KDE process so it is started) start automatically. I don't know the reason and searched in some configuration files like rc.conf but I didn't find trace of these applications. Why do they start automatically even if I didn't set them to do so?

I know, its a pain. I use icewm, and several things also start out of nowhere. For gnome you can use 'gconf-editor'
(install with pacman) and on the editor screen go to 'apps -> gnome_settings_daemon' and there you can disable
several startup programs, like screensaver, background etc.

This by no means solves it all and I am aware that some kde/gnome programs do need some help processes to
run.

A couple of things are also defined on the 'gnome-control-center' and 'systemsettings' (Kde 4, Aaaahhhrg !).
