sata vs ide optical drives........

Hi,

Are ide dvdrw drives better than sata?  the reason I ask is that Arch does not see my ide dvdrw had to convert it too sata.

Have any Arch users had problems with sata/ide in Arch or other distros?

Is it related to kernel or options/cheat codes

Only problem I've ever had with a s-ata optical drive was that it was crap at ripping audio CDs. EAC would take forever as it had to re-rip a ton of frames to get matching CRCs.
