ALSA skipping

Recently my ALSA output has started skipping. It is, so far as I can tell, completely random in relation to random resources, a problem with all applications, and affects both my sound cards, though perhaps slightly moreso the integrated one.

It began when I briefly tried out PulseAudio and OSS, but I've removed them entirely. Twice.

I've also gone through and removed every trace of ALSA and reinstalled it. No luck there.

Try downgrading to kernel version 2.6.25. For me, it works perfectly.

Re: ALSA skipping

I had this problem with the Catalyst 8.7 drivers, (8.8 release fixed it) do you have an ATI card by any chance?
