Top and bottom panel suddanly disappeared. Reboot does not help. I did not install anything before this happened. sudo pacman -Syu does not help.
What happened and how do I fix it permanently?

Do you get any error messages if you try to launch the panel from a terminal (xfce4-panel) ?

What is the command to start the panel again?
Offline
xfce4-panel
If it responds "panel is already running", try "xfce4-panel -r"

Ok - forget what I just posted. Need more coffee. If you press alt+F2, and type in "xfce4-panel &" and press run, it should start automatically in future sessions. Not sure what caused it to stop suddenly though.

OK, thanks. Just out of curiosity. What does the & do?
Offline
The & just means "run this command in the background" - when you next log out, make sure that you tick the "save session for future logins" box. When you login for future sessions, the panel will be loaded in the background.
