Bug 157378 & question about browsing remote HDD

Hi, I'm happy to write this from my first Arch Linux Install using the new KDE 4.1 Desktop
Being a Linux newbie I have a small question about an issue I have with a external Harddrive I'm using. The Issue is explained in the http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157378. And my question is if it's possible to browse my external HDD in a different way avoiding this bug? I'm not very keen to format my hdd quiet yet as it is used as my Backup disk.
