Problem installing Arch - Xorg explodes!

Last week I finally built my computer, and then went to install the 64-bit version of Arch.  All went well with the installation, until I tried getting xorg to work.  I ran Xorg -configure, and it exited with some errors (which I lacked the foresight to make copies of).  All I can remember is that I had a "wrong number of displays/screens".  I think this is because both the video card and integrated graphics on my computer are enabled (to my knowledge, the IGP cannot be disabled).  For the time being, I'm using Fedora 8.

Does anyone know how I can work around this problem, or make Xorg ignore the IGP when configuring xorg.conf?  Low or zero-risk solutions are preferred.

Try running startx without a xorg.conf.

Arch - It's something refreshing

I've always used hwd -xa to do the initial X install.  TBH though, I'm not sure what it does differently to Xorg -configure.  You could always edit the entries you don't want to use out of the xorg.conf file

the xorg.conf from fedora might be a good source of inspiration?

Indeed, you should be able to copy the config file from fedora into your arch install and have it work right out of the box.  You need to make sure you have both the IGP and Offboard xorg drivers installed just in case.

Re: Problem installing Arch - Xorg explodes!

Okay, thanks for the input.  The IGP (AMD 780g / Radeon HD 3200) should be covered by the same driver as my video card (Radeon HD 3870).

Also, has anyone had any luck with getting Hybrid Crossfire to work under Linux, now that Crossfire is supported by the official drivers?
