wifi connection - > freeze (RT61)

Hi everyone,

Before the 2.6.26 kernel I used ndiswrapper to connect my wifi network using my ralink rt61 card, and everything was fine.
But with the 2.6.26 kernel ndiswrapper seems to be broken so I used the RT61pci kernel module, with the rt2x00-rt61-fw core package.

I select my network via network-manager, and it connects fine but sometimes the connection is lost, and my computer freezes while trying to connect again (I can't even go to my terminal with CTRL+ALT+F1).

I tried to use wicd instead of network-manager but it freezes too (when it displays "validating authentification"), but this one never succeeds to connect.

So is there someone who experienced the same problem, and how to fix it ?

Thanks.

Re: wifi connection - > freeze (RT61)

I had major problems with the rt61pci module, never could get it to work, so I went the ndiswrapper route with the Rt61 winxp driver. It's up and running on my Dreamlinux box, so sorry I can't test it for you with Arch.

Dunno if it helps as some of the commands are different, but this is my Dreamlinux Howto:

I'll have a Google for some Rt61 Arch info and post back.

EDIT: Here's the Arch Wiki rt61pci guide:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RT61_Wireless

Maybe you could run through it again to see if you missed anything.
