I'm not sure how to specify this problem, but whenever I play a new song in cmus this happens. It only occurs when I rxvt-unicode.

I have the same problem. It is related to the terminal's title. I found two ways to fix this.
1. Disable set_term_title from Cmus
OR
2. Use screen. This is how I do it.
If you figure out another way to solve this then I'm all ears.

I ran into the issue too.
My way is to change $TERM from "rxvt-unicode" to "rxvt".
