No, and there won't be any. (Officially atleast.)

The KNOPPIX 3.5 LinuxTag DVD Edition is only available at the entrance of LinuxTag within a kit containing the LinuxTag 2004 collector's pin and an entry ticket for the free conference and exhibition.

Re: KnoppixDVD 3.5 download

I tried the arch LiveCD and it doesn't hold a candle to knoppix.  Knoppix uses a special program for higher speed and it ends up with very nice performance on my computer.

I may try to determine the setup required for the knoppix cloop and fast read which includes some arrangement of the loading order in order to speed it up.

Another Live CD which is fair as to speed but has older kernel.... is PCLinuxOS.

Knoppix has the option for kernel26 along with the 2.4 version.
I have live DVD for Knoppix but older kernel.  I made a DVD of both the Knoppix 3.4 and the PCLinuxOS7.  Both perform well with Knoppix the faster.

Am hoping for "one flew over the cuckoos nest".

I wasn't talking about the AL-AMLUG Live CD.
You can make your own and use cloop for it. Prolly would work even faster than Knoppix.  smile (but only for i686 computers that is..)

Re: KnoppixDVD 3.5 download

Latest on Knoppix 3.5 is that it is available via bitorrent.

See the "NEWS" forum at Knoppix.

It is said to have ~9GB of programs which means it has at least 4 times compression and plays "on the fly" decompress.

I will soon have 2.5GB of ram and will try to load a knoppix3.4 2.1GB disc into ram.

Stay tuned....

Re: KnoppixDVD 3.5 download

Have a question regarding the performance of the knoppix DVD I have in my computer.

When I add a 669mb divx file into the desktop, the system monitor shows 1.8GB in memory.  Prior to the entry of the Divx the memory size was around 350MB.

What causes such an increase in ram use?  Is it swap or is the Divx decoded to Mpeg video?

Re: KnoppixDVD 3.5 download

Problem with ram size was the loading obtained from HDD which was mounted in ram along with the video file.  Unmounted the drive and eliminated the extra ram which was undesired.
