ethernet nor wifi working... and some other things

I am unable to get these devices working
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Unknown device 1969:1026 (rev b0)
08:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Unknown device 4229 (rev 61)
0a:00.0 System peripheral: JMicron Technologies, Inc. Unknown device 2382
0a:00.2 Generic system peripheral [0805]: JMicron Technologies, Inc. Unknown device 2381
0a:00.3 System peripheral: JMicron Technologies, Inc. Unknown device 2383
0a:00.4 System peripheral: JMicron Technologies, Inc. Unknown device 2384

I'm not even sure what the "jmicron" devices are (maybe webcame or sd controller idk yet).... well I was on irc and someone gave me the great idea of using google, which I did but all these devices only pull up like 3 relavent links I really could care less about the sd card controller.... I just need the internet to get some apps in addition to the core system lol... (mainly X, a DM, and possibly compiz to show off to friends, and utils for the laptop of course, and sound,,,)

the only relevant result I found for the Ethernet card was on a ubuntu forum I followed the instructions (downloaded the driver from here on windows copied to a usb and then did regular install and it worked for that one time only.... I managed to install X and xfce but my xorg.conf file was fuxed up and I was missing the intel drivers in addition to that lol... after rebooting I have to insert the module manually and then it shows up as eth0 I run "dhcpcd eth0" and it times out and gives me an a 169.x.x.x address which isn't good lol.... so what should I do next?

(I am using or at least trying to....) 64bit edition of arch, and this is the forum I use to get the driver to work ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=770173 for some reason it keeps timing out on me...)

What is your ethernet controller for your laptop?  You may find it by googling your laptop and looking around a bit.

http://support.asus.com/download/downlo … l=P5KPL-CM

^these are the drivers for the ethernet and apparently the audio (within the .rar archive) I installed and used them first boot after install... then dhcp has failed to work since...

Re: ethernet nor wifi working... and some other things

I think you used the guide at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? … ost5597225

try this:

modprobe atl1e

Then try to connect again.

If it works now, add the atl1e module to your rc.conf.
