X.org 1.5 and xorg.conf

I read somewhere that the new X.org Server will drop xorg.conf . What is the case?

Re: X.org 1.5 and xorg.conf

The one in extra (1.4?) doesn't need xorg.conf already, it autoconfigures itself. Of course, one will want a xorg.conf anyway, if one wants to customize the configuration of xorg.

Nothing should change compared to 1.4, you won't need xorg.conf if you don't want to customize.

I read that in this version the xorg.conf will be ignored.

Re: X.org 1.5 and xorg.conf

How would you customize it then?

Well, for one, I'm running 1.5 with xorg.conf.

Re: X.org 1.5 and xorg.conf

From what I understand (or IMO?) it does not so much auto-config but "smart default".  Well...anyway I need xorg.conf options myself smile
