Why java in /opt and eclipse in /usr/share ?

1)Why is java in /opt and eclipse in /usr/share ?
They both "break" file structure, they should be both in /opt, shoudn't they?

2)I need to have more versions of jdk installed.. How do I do it ? standard java /opt/java directory can hold only one version, and having  /opt/java and /opt/java_version does not look very nice.

Thanks for answers.

I would like to see java in /usr too, but that goes for everything in /opt. And to have another java version, you will have to put it in a separate directory structure, I don't think there is another (maintainable) way...
