I have a digital video camera with FireWire support and my Sound Blaster sound card (uses emu10k1 ALSA driver) has a firewire port. I won't be doing any fancy video effects, just trimming videos, making menus and burning it to a DVD. I'll be using the Gnome Desktop.
I've heard of Kino and Cinnerella (or something like that) Which do you guys prefer?

Kino's probably the simplest for capture imo. If you wan really simple cut-and-paste editing, you might wanna give avidemux2 a try.
